Contracts for sale & purchase - IP , IT and media contracts - agency, distribution
and general commercial contracts Businesses and law
firms often struggle to find reliable and cost effective ways to deal with legal
aspects of their commercial contracts. Clients sometimes
tell law firms - you must do this work if you want to do our more lucrative, higher
value work. Within other businesses, in-house counsel often tell us they tend
to deal with routine commercial contracts themselves - because if the work is
sent to outside law firms, it tends to be done by junior lawyers and is even then
expensive. With all of this in mind, we have created a group
of lawyers who specialise in commercial contracts. Our lawyers invariably work
for some weeks with our clients - usually in our clients' premises - at the beginning
of each new assignment, to ensure that practical, procedural and timing issues
are fully discussed, understood and agreed. Our lawyers welcome the opportunity
of participating in our clients' own training programmes - in person or by video-link.
For some clients, we draft, negotiate and finalise commercial
contracts - often with large corporations and their counsel on "the other side".
For other clients we act as a part of their own in-house legal function - either
sharing some types of work previously undertaken by these in-house lawyers or
relieving these in-house lawyers of comparatively routine work and allowing them
to devote more time to higher value and more challenging work in which application
of their knowledge of the business in which they are working will be of much great
economic and commercial benefit to that business. We work
equally comfortably on our clients' own document management systems and on our
own Documentum© system. Contract databases (usually in the form of a short summary
of key features of the relevant contract, plus a scanned copy of the actual contract)
can be created, indexed and maintained - again on a wide range of document management
systems. |
